New Delhi, February 8: After relentless criticism from the opposition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday hit back at Congress and slammed the party for double-digit inflation during the UPA government. He further said that India is the only country in the world, which is witnessing high economic growth and also keeping inflation in check at about 4-5 per cent, which was in double digits before 2014. "The US is witnessing worst inflation in 40 years, while the UK is facing the worst inflation in 30 years. Similar trends are visible in many other European countries. However, we have kept the inflation in check, maintaining it between 4 to 5 percent," said the Prime Minister in Rajya Sabha.

They boycotted such an important meeting," he added. PM Modi, however, lauded Sharad Pawar, former Union Minister and leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). "I would like to express my gratitude to Sharad Rao (Sharad Pawar). He reached out to political leaders and urged them to take part in the all-party meeting," said the PM. "He, along with TMC and other parties, attended the meeting. Despite the fact that the pandemic affected entire humankind, you still boycotted the meet," PM Modi added, targeting Congress which had skipped the all-party meeting on Covid-19 management last year.
