Lok Sabha Elections 2024: 'Emotional moment', says Rahul Gandhi as he files nomination from Raebareli

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: After weeks of speculation over the Congress' pick for the Raebareli and Amethi seats, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi filed his nomination for the Raebareli for the Lok Sabha elections in 2024 on Friday.

Rahul Gandhi wrote an "emotional" note on social media platform X after filing his papers for the Lok Sabha constituency, stating that he sees no difference between Amethi and Raebareli and that he has been entrusted with the responsibility of the family's workplace. “Nomination from Raebareli was an emotional moment for me! My mother has entrusted me with the responsibility of the family's workplace with great confidence and given me the opportunity to serve it," Rahul Gandhi said on X.

"Amethi and Rae Bareli are not different for me; they are both my family, and I am pleased that Kishori Lal ji, who has served the area for 40 years, will represent the party in Amethi. In my ongoing fight for justice against injustice, I seek the love and blessings of my loved ones," he senior party leader added.

"I am confident that all of you will stand with me in this fight to save the Constitution and democracy." He also posted a video of himself filing his nomination and performing puja alongside other senior Congress leaders.

Sonia Gandhi won Raebareli in 2019, and the Congress party has fielded a candidate in 17 of the 20 elections conducted there since 1952, with the majority of the candidates being Gandhi family members.
