Halwara airport news: Travellers between Delhi and Ludhiana will soon have a new and faster way to fly. Union Minister of State Ravneet Bittu confirmed that direct flights connecting Delhi to Halwara Airport in Ludhiana will officially start on May 15, and tickets are already on sale.

What you need to know

Two flights will run every day on this route, both using an Airbus A320 that seats 180 passengers. The first flight takes off early in the morning at 5.55 am, while the second departs at 12.55 pm. Each trip will take roughly an hour and 10 minutes.

Halwara Airport's brand-new civil terminal was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February. With commercial flights now kicking off, the terminal is set to make travel much easier for people living and doing business in Ludhiana, one of Punjab's biggest industrial cities.

Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu called it a proud moment for the state and said the new connectivity will give a real push to trade and economic growth in the region.
