PTC News Desk: Farmer leader jagjit Singh Dallewal was put under house arrest  by Punjab police  in wee hours of Monday as officials reached his residence in Faridkot. Meanwhile Dallewal's son was detained and taken into custody.

Besides Dallewal, police has also detained BKU Sidhupur President Kaka Singh Kotra and farmer leader Balwant Singh. Punjab police conducted raids in several districts of Punjab including Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Batala, Jalandhar, Muktsar and Faridkot.

Jagjit Singh Dallewal's detention comes ahead of the 'anti-coercion dharna' announced by farmer bodies to protest against Punjab government's massive crackdown on farmers. The Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) and the United Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) had announced that farmers will protest outside Shambhu police station on May 6 against Punjab police's action on farmers on the directions of state government.

Earlier on March 19, several key farmer leaders including Jagjit Singh Dallewal and Sarwan Singh Pandher were detained while they were returning from the meeting held with Centre. The farmers were detained and lodged in Patiala jail and their structures at Shambhu and Khanauri border were also dismantled in massive crackdown.
