Ludhiana factory blast: A massive explosion was reported at a firecracker factory in the Jodhan area of Ludhiana, causing the building to collapse resulting in the death of one youth while another woman was severely injured.

As soon as information about the explosion was received, teams from various departments rushed to the spot.

Administration and local residents also rushed to the spot and pulled the youth trapped under the concrete slab with the help of a JCB and sent him to the Civil Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

The deceased has been identified as 18-year-old Mohammad Kaif.

The victim’s father, Jameel, said that a sudden storm struck in the evening, during which lightning hit the area. This caused a short circuit, leading to a power outage. Shortly after, a gas cylinder exploded, triggering the blast.

However, army and administrative officials stated that the incident was caused by an explosion of firecracker chemicals. A large quantity of potash (an explosive substance) was found inside the premises.
