PGI Chandigarh: 36 nursing students grounded for skipping PM Modi’s ‘Mann ki Baat’ programme
Chandigarh, May 11: The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh (PGI Chandigarh) has initiated action against 36 nursing students for not listening to the 100th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 'Mann Ki Baat' programme.
As a punishment, all the 36 nursing students have been grounded and have been banned from going outside the hostel for a week.
Notably, as per the instruction of PGI Director it was conveyed to all the students by your good self and hostel coordinator that is compulsory for the 1st and 3rd year to attend 100th episode of Prime Minister MANN KI BAAT in LT1 at 10:30 a.m.
“During my (warden) night & morning round informing students again & again to go for the lecture and even after giving them a warning about cancelation of outing for those students who would not attend the LT1. Still eight (8) students of 1" year and twenty eight (28) students of 3rd year (list given below) didn't go to attend the same. This is for your information and necessary action,” read the order by PGI Director

Terming is at a ‘dictatorial move,’Chandigarh Youth Congress president Manoj Lubana took to his Twitter handle and published a video in which he said that unnecessary action had been taken against those who chose not listen to ‘Mann Ki Baat.’

He further said that if this decision impacts the academic life of the students in the future, the Youth Congress will not sit silent and will protest on a large scale.
Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a historic 100th episode of the Mann Ki Baat radio programme on Sunday, in which he said that the preservation and promotion of education and culture have been an ancient tradition of India, adding that the country was working towards that through various means like the National Education Policy and the option of studying in regional languages.
