PTC News Desk: Lifting the ban on the recruitment of 5,994 posts of ETT teachers in Punjab, the Punjab and Haryana High Court gave green signal to the Punjab Government for the recruitment of 5,994 Elementary Teacher Training (ETT) teachers in Punjab.

While permitting the Punjab Government to proceed with the recruitment process, the High Court directed significant changes in ETT selection process by canceling  the Punjabi language exam on the basis of the syllabus and asked why Punjab and Punjabiyat have been included in this exam solely through language proficiency.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court  expressed concerns that the inclusion of Punjabi language in the examination did not accurately capture the essence of Punjabiness or Punjabiyat.

The court further emphasised that though, language proficiency can provide insight into grammatical knowledge but poses challenges for applicants from outside Punjab.

In response to the High Court's directive, the Punjab government has agreed to adhere to the decision to conduct the examination within three months.

This ruling underscores the importance of ensuring fairness and inclusivity in the recruitment process while acknowledging the unique cultural identity of Punjab.
