Punjab government forms 5-member committee to curb growing drug menace in region
PTC News Desk: The Punjab government on Thursday formed a high power five member committee to mitigate the drug menace in the region.
The committee will be charged to oversee the actions of the police and health departments in addressing and curbing drug addiction. The committee will be chaired by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema.
AAP state president New and Renewable Energy Minister Aman Arora, Health Minister Balbir Singh, Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar and Industries Minister Taranpreet Sondh will also be part of the committee.
The committee has been formed as part of the government's campaign 'War on Drugs' to curb drug menace amid alarming concerns over the issue. The committee is expected work on ground level and converse with people in order to assess efficiency of the campaign. Following its evaluation, the committee will submit its final report to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann followed by rehabilitation process.
