Tragic: 2.5-year-old killed after being run over by speeding school van in Punjab's Ludhiana
PTC News Desk: A two-and-a-half-year-old boy was killed in a tragic road accident in Shalu (Beni) village of the Kohara area in Ludhiana on Wednesday morning. The child, identified as Samardeep, was standing outside his house with his mother to see off his elder sister as she boarded her school van when the accident occurred. He died on the spot after being run over by a speeding BITS School van. The incident has left the village in shock and sparked anger among residents.
According to reports, at around 7 am on Wednesday, Samardeep was standing outside his house with his mother while his elder sister was getting ready to board the BITS School van, as she did every day. As the van arrived and began moving, the toddler came under its wheels.
Eyewitnesses said the front wheel of the van first ran over the child, followed by the rear wheel, crushing him. The accident was so horrific that people present at the scene were left stunned. Samardeep died on the spot in front of his family.
Villagers alleged that the driver did not stop the vehicle after the accident and instead tried to flee. Despite people shouting at him to stop, he continued driving away.
