Ludhiana: While political parties are busy campaigning ahead of Punjab Assembly elections 2022, an alleged clash broke out between the supporters of Congress’ Kamaljit Singh Karwal and Lok Insaaf Party's Simarjit Singh Bains last night in Atam Nagar constituency. Kamaljit Singh Karwal has alleged that Simarjit Singh Bains had attacked (his convoy) and opened fire. Action to be taken in the matter, said Ravicharan Singh, Jt CP Rural, Ludhiana. The action has been taken by the police on the complaint of Kamaljit Singh Karwal's close associate. Police also conducted a search operation to arrest Bains but were unsuccessful. The Congress leader claimed that Bains and his supporters smashed vehicles parked on the road. The Bains supporters are accused of 'opening fire' at Cong supporters. Congress candidates are making baseless allegations, they know they can't defeat me, so they are defaming me. ADCP Balwinder Singh Randhawa said that statements of people from both sides were being recorded and police would take appropriate action in this regard. Earlier on January 19, the supporters of both candidates had clashed over the issue of installing hoardings. The Atam Nagar constituency is one of the sensitive polling stations in the district.
