Punjab sacrilege incidents: Describing the incidents of sacrilege at Golden Temple in Amritsar, and Kapurthala as shocking and a deep-rooted conspiracy, Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Monday convened a meeting of the SAD Core Committee on December 23 in Chandigarh to deliberate on the issue and to discuss the current situation in Punjab. On Sunday, Sukhbir Singh Badal said that the Union and State governments must demonstrate sincerity and a sense of urgency in their actions to identify, expose and punish those behind the most painful acts of sacrilege against Sikh Panth. "There is more politics on their minds than the pursuit of real culprits," he added. Frequency of these shocking attempts coupled with Punjab Govt's apathy and inactivity smack of a deep-rooted conspiracy," he said, adding that "These acts, and govt’s refusal to step up vigilance after the first act is unforgivable." Earlier on Saturday, an unidentified man jumped over a railing inside the Golden Temple during Rehraas Sahib Paath (evening prayers) and tried to catch the sword which was kept in front of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji inside the reserved area which is only open to Granthi Sikhs. However, he was beaten to death while no document or identity proof was found from the youth. Punjab: Another sacrilege bid at Gurdwara Sahib in Kapurthala's Nizampur In another incident, a man was beaten to death for allegedly trying to desecrate Nishan Sahib in Gurdwara Sahib in Kapurthala's Nizampur. The man who allegedly committed the sacrilege of Nishan Sahib was seen beaten by the locals and later handed over to the police. Later, a mob attacked the accused after which he died. Punjab is shocked by these sacrilege incidents in Kapurthala and Golden Temple in Amritsar. -PTC News
