ED raids house of Gurpreet Singh Prince, nephew of Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian
PTC Web Desk: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday carried out a search at the residence of Gurpreet Singh Prince, nephew of Punjab Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian, in Ludhiana, according to information available at the time of publication.
The exact reason for the search at Prince’s residence has not been officially disclosed so far. It is also not clear whether any material or documents were seized from the premises. No official statement from the ED has yet specifically named Prince or explained his alleged connection, if any, with the ongoing investigation.
The development comes amid an extensive ED operation across Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana and Delhi in connection with a money-laundering investigation involving Tirupati Infraprojects Pvt Ltd and other linked entities.
ED searches GMADA offices
As part of the wider operation, the ED has been conducting searches and surveys at the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) in Mohali and offices linked to Punjab’s Housing and Urban Development Department.
The agency has searched 26 premises across Delhi, Chandigarh, Panchkula, Mohali and Ludhiana under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The operation covers Tirupati Infraprojects, its promoters, directors and associated persons, along with several other companies.
ED teams have been examining official records, property-related documents and financial transactions involving GMADA and private companies. The searches were still continuing as of Wednesday, with officials looking into dealings between the authority and private developers.
Probe linked to Mohali auction sites
According to information, the investigation centres on two prominent auction sites in Mohali that were acquired from GMADA by companies linked to the promoters of Tirupati Infraprojects.
The ED is examining allegations that the companies later received substantial financial relief on dues payable to GMADA. Investigators suspect that the alleged arrangement resulted in an undue benefit of more than Rs 100 crore to the companies and a corresponding loss to the government exchequer. These are allegations under investigation and no final finding has been made.
A consultancy firm, Tila Consultants and Contractors Pvt Ltd, is also under the agency’s scanner. The firm had reportedly worked on consultancy assignments for GMADA and is being examined over its alleged role in the matter.
Tirupati Infraprojects is also linked to an earlier Rs 290-crore bank fraud case concerning the Radisson Blu hotel project in Paschim Vihar, New Delhi, which is being investigated by the CBI and ED.
The latest ED operation remains underway. At present, there has been no official announcement of an arrest or a final finding in the ongoing probe.
