Hoshiarpur 5-year-old boy murder case: Court awards death sentence to convict
PTC Web Desk: A district court in Hoshiarpur has sentenced a man to death in the case involving the kidnapping and murder of a five-year-old boy in September 2025.
The verdict was pronounced on Friday by Additional Sessions Judge, Hoshiarpur, Manpreet Kaur. The accused, identified as Manke Yadav, was held guilty in the case. He was produced before the court through video conferencing from Ludhiana jail.
The court’s decision brought an emotional response from the child’s family. His mother broke down after hearing the sentence and said the family had been waiting for justice for their son.

The victim’s family also thanked the court and their lawyer for pursuing the case. Advocate Ashwani Kumar Verma represented the family without charging a fee and had sought the maximum punishment for the accused.
Child had gone missing from outside home
The incident took place in Deep Nagar, Hoshiarpur, in September 2025. The child was playing outside his home when he disappeared.
According to the case details, a man on a scooter lured the child with a chocolate and took him away. When the child did not return home, the family began searching for him.
CCTV footage from the area later helped the police identify the suspected abduction. The footage reportedly showed a man taking the child away on a scooter. Police officials reached the area and began investigating the case.
The child’s body was recovered the following morning from a cremation ground in Rahimpur.
The police subsequently arrested Manke Yadav, a native of Uttar Pradesh, in connection with the case. According to the police, he worked as a labourer in the Dana Mandi area. The case was heard for nearly a year before the court delivered its verdict.
A large number of people had gathered outside the court ahead of the verdict. Due to security concerns, the accused was not brought to the court physically and was instead produced through video conferencing.
After the death sentence was announced, the victim’s relatives and local residents welcomed the verdict.
The family has also requested permission to be present when the sentence is carried out, subject to the applicable legal process.
The case had triggered protests in Hoshiarpur following the child’s death. Several village panchayats had passed resolutions raising concerns over people from outside the state living in their areas.
