Amit Shah said the Tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, sacrificed his entire family while defending against the Mughals. He claimed that even today, when the slogan “Bole So Nihal” is raised, the Pakistani Army retreats.
Shah said Punjab, known for its history of bravery and sacrifice, has now been affected by the drug menace. He said he had not come to Punjab merely to discuss politics.
He appealed to people to vote for the BJP and said that by December 31, 2029, there would be no one left selling “chitta” in Punjab.
Shah also expressed sadness over the deaths of young people who were involved in wrestling and other activities.
Amit Shah alleged that Punjab’s financial situation is in poor condition and accused the state government of being involved in a series of scams. He mentioned alleged irregularities related to Moga advertisements, Barnala land, and Anganwadi/panjiri, and claimed that extortion was also taking place.
Shah also claimed that the government was spending ₹785 crore annually on advertisements. These allegations have also appeared in BJP statements about the Punjab government.
He questioned Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over promises made to the people, including providing 25 lakh jobs.
Shah further raised issues related to the number of clinics, medical colleges, mining revenue and MSP for crops. He alleged that the government had promised to increase mining revenue but it had instead declined, and that the promised MSP for 26 crops had not been provided.
He also alleged that financial assistance promised to victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots had not been provided.
Amit Shah said people in Jalandhar may ask why the drug known as “chitta” has not been eliminated from Punjab.
He said that if the people remove the current government from power, the BJP will work to eliminate the drug menace. Shah also said Punjab cannot achieve real development unless its youth are freed from drug addiction.
Shah said he promised to make Punjab free of the drug known as “chitta” by December 31, 2029. He said that the BJP had delivered on previous commitments, citing the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the government’s actions against the decades-old Naxalite problem, and efforts to end militancy in the Northeast.
He said that the next priority was to make Punjab free of “chitta.” Addressing the mothers of Punjab, Shah said that by December 31, 2029, those supplying the drug to their children would no longer be allowed to operate.
He also said that people involved in selling “chitta” would be identified and sent to prison.
Amit Shah said he repeatedly pays his respects to the land of Jalandhar. He also paid tribute to Punjab’s prominent figures, including Maharaja Ranjit Singh, Sardar Teja Singh Samundri and Shaheed Bhagat Singh.
He said Punjab is known across the country mainly for two major contributions. First, whenever the country needed food, Punjab’s farmers helped fill the nation’s grain reserves. Second, whether before or after Independence, whenever the country’s security has been at stake, Punjabi soldiers have always been among the first to be ready to sacrifice their lives.

The email reportedly mentioned plans to carry out blasts at 11:11 am at schools in Jalandhar, 12:11 pm at Shri Devi Talab Temple, 2:11 pm at the court complex and 3:11 pm at an office.
The threatening email also claimed that an IED had been planted under the stage at Amit Shah’s rally. It further alleged that bombs had been placed in two or three of the 2,000 buses expected to bring people to the rally.
The email ended with references to “Khalistan National Army” and “Babbar Khalsa (Parmar-Canada)”, along with the names Gurnakh Singh, Dr Gurnirvair Singh, Prof Gurkal Singh and Prof Gurangaar Singh.
Police and security agencies have been put on alert.
Amit Shah is scheduled to address a rally at Paragpur, near the Jalandhar-Ludhiana Highway, as part of the BJP’s efforts to reach voters across the 23 Assembly constituencies of the Doaba region. The rally will also mark the conclusion of four BJP-led “Nasha Mukt Punjab” (Drug-Free Punjab) campaigns.
Shah is expected to reach Shri Devi Talab Temple at around 12:30 pm, where he will spend about 30 minutes meeting members of the Sant Samaj before heading to the rally venue. He is then scheduled to leave for Delhi by helicopter.
Ahead of his visit, a helipad has been prepared at the ground of Labhu Ram Doaba School near the temple, while another helipad has been set up close to the rally venue.
BJP leader KD Bhandari said Shah’s visit would boost the party’s activities in the state.
The Union Home Minister will first pay obeisance at the Shri Devi Talab Maa Tripur Malini Temple and seek blessings before attending the rally. Punjab BJP president Keval Singh Dhillon said the September 30 rally was being organised not merely as a political event but also as a major campaign to raise awareness against drugs in Punjab.
Drug-Free Punjab campaign to conclude in Jalandhar
The BJP’s Drug-Free Punjab Yatra will conclude in Jalandhar ahead of Shah’s visit. The campaign began from Madhopur in Pathankot district on September 18, 2026, after BJP national president Nitin Nabin flagged it off.
The yatra covered around 4,000 km and travelled across all 117 Assembly constituencies in Punjab.
