Rajbir Ghuman is a pawn, real player is Bhagwant Mann: Bikram Majithia targets Punjab CM amid ED letter
PTC Web Desk: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia has launched a sharp attack on Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) wrote to Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav seeking action against Rajbir Ghuman, a man described by Bikram Singh Majithia as being close to the state government.
Majithia alleged that Ghuman had been operating as a middleman in government transfers and other official matters. He also accused the Punjab government of allowing him significant access to the administration.
“Rajbir Ghumman is a pawn. The real player is Guru Dokhi Bhagwant Mann!” Majithia said in a statement, while demanding answers from the Chief Minister.

The ED's letter to DGP Gaurav Yadav was prepared as part of an investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in a case involving a Chandigarh-based housing society and its associates.
The agency said searches were carried out at several locations between May 7 and 10. During the searches, nearly Rs 21 lakh in cash was reportedly seized.
According to the ED, material recovered from devices, including WhatsApp chats, allegedly showed discussions about influencing transfers and postings of government officials.
The agency cited more than 20 alleged instances between 2023 and 2026 involving IAS, IPS, PCS and DSP-rank officers.
The ED has also alleged interference in tender conditions, licensing matters and land transactions. One of the matters mentioned in the letter relates to an alleged undervaluation of a plot in Mohali. The agency further said that some of the chats allegedly referred to cash payments running into lakhs and hawala transactions.
Reacting to the ED communication, Majithia raised three questions for Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
He asked who gave Ghuman such extensive access to the government and questioned where the alleged money earned through transfers went.
Majithia also alleged that the Chief Minister's residence had become a centre of corruption and claimed that Ghuman was only a “pawn” in a larger network.
The SAD leader further challenged the Punjab police leadership to act on the ED's allegations.
The ED said the allegations required examination under laws, including the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Official Secrets Act, along with relevant provisions of criminal law. The agency has asked the DGP to register a case, referring to Supreme Court directions concerning the mandatory registration of FIRs when information discloses a cognisable offence.
