SC asks Delhi Police to take the decision on tractor rally

The petitions related to Kisan Tractor Parade, Farm Laws and Farmers Protest at Delhi’s borders were scheduled to be heard again today in the Supreme Court.

Supreme Court says it will not pass any order on Centre’s plea or Delhi Police’s petition against proposed tractor rally or any other kind of protest by farmers on Republic Day.

CJI says, “We’ve said that it is for the Police to decide. We are not going to pass the orders. You are the authority to take action.”

Now the Supreme Court in its decision said that any decision on protest on Republic Day, January 26 by farmers will be taken by Delhi Police as they have the authority to take the final call.

To which the Centre has now taken back its plea.

Besides, a 10th round meeting between the farmers and the Union government on agriculture laws is going to be held today at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi.

The Delhi Police had filed a petition in the Supreme Court regarding the farmers’ tractor parade. In a petition filed in the Supreme Court, the Delhi Police had sought a stay on the farmers’ tractor march on January 26. The Delhi Police has cited law and order for this.

The farmers had said that the march will encircle Delhi’s Outer Ring Road and the Republic Day parade will not be disrupted. The tractor march will be completely peaceful and each tractor will have a tricolor and a flag of a farmers’ organization.
