Sidhu Moosewala's new song 'Vaar': Muslim community raises objections; singer's father issues clarification

Mohali, November 9: Within a day of its release, late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala's new song 'Vaar' has landed in religious controversy. Members of the Muslim community have raised objections to the song, though the singer's father Balkaur Singh has issued a clarification in this regard.

Notably, the Muslim community has objected to the use of word ‘Muhammad’ and ‘Khans’ in 'Vaar' since it believes it was intended for Hazrat Muhammad Sahib. However, Moosewala's father Balkaur Singh has clarified to Shahi Imam of Ludhiana that Khan Muhammad, who fought against Sikh General Hari Singh Nalwa, had been referred to as Muhammad, and not Hazrat Sahib. He has also apologised if it has hurt anyone's sentiments.

Balkaur Singh said the Muslim community always showered love on his son. Balkaur Singh said the song was 7-minute long, but after the death of his son, this song remained incomplete.

He said "Hazrat Muhammad Sahib is respected by everyone. We respect Muslim society too. I still apologise if it has hurt anyone's sentiments,"

Meanwhile, Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala's second posthumous song 'Vaar, which talks about Punjabi pride and valour, was released on occasion of Gurpurb. His  first posthumous song 'SYL' was banned on YouTube after complaints.

Moosewala's Instagram caption on 'Vaar' read: "Until the lions have their own historians, the history of the hunt will always glorify the hunter. Vaar Playing Now..!" The song got more than half a million views in just 9 minutes.
