Barabanki (Uttar Pradesh), February 27: Congress' PL Punia on Sunday cast his vote at a polling booth in Barabanki in the fifth phase of the ongoing Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. The party leader also took a swipe at the BJP and said that people of the state have decided to oust the party from UP. While talking to the media, Punia said the BJP is losing that's why all leaders from party national president JP Nadda to Prime minister Narendra Modi campaigned here. 'People have decided to oust BJP' "BJP thinks that it is weak and is losing. So they (BJP) brought everyone to campaign for the party, from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Home Minister Amit Shah and their national president JP Nadda. They (BJP) are trying but people won't get lured. They (people) have decided to make BJP lose," the Congress leader added. 'People have decided to oust BJP' Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP), and Congress are seen as the main contenders in Uttar Pradesh elections 2022. The voting will end at 6 pm. As many as 692 candidates are in the fray for the fifth phase and over two crore voters will decide their fate. The seats are spread across twelve districts of Amethi, Raebareli, Sultanpur, Chitrakoot, Pratapgarh, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Barabanki, Ayodhya, Bahraich, Shravasti, and Gonda. In 2017, BJP had won 38 seats out of 55, while the SP had retained 15 and the Congress had won two seats. 'People have decided to oust BJP' Meanwhile, the remaining two phases of the seven-phase UP assembly elections 2022 will take place on March 3 and March 7, respectively.
