Dehradun, February 13: With less than 24 hours left for assembly elections in Uttarakhand, security in the poll-bound state has been beefed up. The poll campaigning ended on Saturday evening and security forces have been deployed at all the 11,697 polling booths to maintain the law and order situation in the state, said Chief Electoral Officer of Uttarakhand, Sojanya. The Chief Electoral Officer further stated that all the preparations are done at polling booths in the state and the polling parties have been sent to Uttarkashi and Pithoragarh.  Uttarakhand all set for polls "We are fully prepared as all arrangements have been made at 11,697 booths and the polling party has been sent to Uttarkashi and Pithoragarh and the rest will be sent today. Security forces have also been deployed at all places to maintain law and order situation," said Sojanya. Also Read | Punjab Elections 2022: EC permits Political parties to campaign from 6 am to 10 pm The 70-assembly seat Uttarakhand will go to the polls on Monday, February 14 and the counting of votes will be done on March 10.  Uttarakhand all set for polls As the polls near, rivals BJP and the Congress were coming out with all their big guns blazing, with the focus on the state's two broad regions, Kumaon and Garhwal. In the Vidhan Sabha elections in 2022, over 600 candidates will fight for 70 assembly seats. Incumbent Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will seek re-election, while Harish Rawat, the former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and a seasoned leader, is leading the Congress party. Uttarakhand all set for polls In the state's previous elections, held in 2017, the BJP, led by Trivendra Singh Rawat, won a landslide victory, taking 57 of the state's 70 seats. With 11 seats, the Congress party came in second, and the remaining two seats were won by independent candidates. The Bahujan Samaj Party also took part in the elections but did not perform well.
