Dubai floods: Indian embassy in UAE advises Indians to reschedule non-essential travel

Dubai floods: The Indian embassy in the UAE advised inbound Indian passengers flying to or transiting through Dubai International Airport on Friday to reschedule non-essential travel till operations start again. The advisory comes after the city experienced unprecedented rainfall this week.

The United Arab Emirates is working to recover from this week's record-breaking rains, which caused massive flooding in Dubai and surrounding areas.

The embassy stated in the advisory that while UAE authorities were working around the clock to restore normal operations, airport authorities advised passengers to travel to the airport "only after" final confirmation from the respective airlines regarding flight departure dates and times.

Due to disruption caused by unprecedented weather conditions in the UAE earlier this week, Dubai International Airport has temporarily restricted the number of inbound flights. Dubai International Airport, the world's busiest international travel hub, anticipated to resume normal operations within 24 hours.

According to the statement, "Inbound Indian passengers travelling to or transiting through Dubai International Airport are advised to reschedule non-essential travel till operations normalise."

"To assist Indian nationals at the Dubai International Airport, the Consulate General of India in Dubai has operationalised emergency helpline numbers which have been functional since April 17."
