India files appeal against death penalty to 8 Navy veterans in Qatar
PTC News Desk: India has filed an appeal with Qatari authorities regarding the death sentence for eight Navy veterans who were arrested in August of last year for reasons that are still unknown. The Qatar court judgment remains "confidential" and is only available to the officers' legal teams.
Among the eight are decorated officers who once commanded major Indian warships and were employed by Dahra Global Technologies and Consultancy Services at the time of their arrest.
Dahra is a private company that provides training and other services to Qatar's armed forces.
According to sources, some of the sailors were involved in a sensitive project involving stealth submarines based on Italian technology. According to media reports, they have been accused of spying.
