Pakistan: Six cops dead, seven terrorists neutralised in gunfire exchange following terror attack at police station
PTC News Desk: At least six more police personnel died and seven terrorists were killed following a fierce gunfire exchange in response to the terror attack at at a police training centre school in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in northwestern Pakistan, police said.
Earlier three terrorists were neutralised in retaliatory fire by police personnel after the attack on Ratta Kulachi Police Training School in Dera Ismail Khan district, and a few others were said to be holed up inside the compound.
Officials confirmed that all trainee recruits and staff members were safely moved to secure locations.
The operation was carried out jointly by SSG commandos, Al-Burq Force, Elite Force, and local police units.
The attack took place late Friday night when terrorists drove a truck packed with explosives into the main gate of the police training school, causing a powerful blast.
Following the explosion, the assailants—dressed in various uniforms—stormed the premises and opened indiscriminate fire. Security forces responded immediately, engaging the attackers and surrounding them as the militants hurled hand grenades during the gunfight.
District Police Officer (DPO) Dera Ismail Khan Sahibzada Sajjad Ahmed and Regional Police Officer (RPO) Syed Ashfaq Anwar personally oversaw the operation on the ground.
