Washington: Amazon cargo plane skids off runway, burst into flames at Miami airport; five killed | Watch
PTC News Desk: At least five people were killed and several others injured after an Amazon cargo plane skidded off, rammed into parked vehicles and then burst into flames at the Miami International Airport.
Videos of the incident posted on social media showed a blue and white Boeing 767 overshooting the diagonal runway during landing and barrel-rolling into parked vehicles on a side road used by warehouse workers and other businesses that surround the airport.

The accident took place at around 2 pm local time as the plane was arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico.
According to Jadallah, the crash trapped the pilot and co-pilot inside the cockpit, while some people were trapped in cars. Rescue teams also had to free a person who was stuck under a vehicle. It was not immediately known whether the pilots survived or whether all those killed were inside vehicles when the plane crashed.
The incident disrupted operations at the busy airport for much of the afternoon. All runways and taxiways were closed, and passengers were advised to check with their airlines before travelling to the airport.
Jadallah said around 60 fire and rescue vehicles, along with nearly 200 personnel from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, reached the site to carry out search, rescue and firefighting operations.
He added that the exact cause of the accident would be investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
The NTSB also said on X that it had sent an investigation team to examine Sunday’s runway accident.
