Batala Firecracker Factory Blast: 23 killed, 20 injured

Gurdaspur: As many as 23 people were killed and 20 injured after a massive fire broke out in a firecracker factory in Batala on Wednesday. As per the media reports, 19 people have been killed and many feared trapped under the debris.

The firecrackers that caught fire were supposed to be used on the Guru Nanak Dev’s marriage anniversary celebrations on Thursday. Meanwhile, the fire tenders and ambulances have been rushed to the spot from Gurdaspur and Amritsar.

The rescue operation is underway where many of them are feared trapped under the debris. Meanwhile, more than 100 policemen have reached the spot. Also, DC, Gurdaspur, Vipul Ujwal has reached the spot along with SSP Upinderjit Singh Ghuman.
