Budget Session 2021 likely to begin from January 29

Union Budget 2021-22: The Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA) on Tuesday recommended that the Parliament's Budget Session 2021 will commence from January 29, a report stated.

According to the sources, the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA) recommended that the first part of Budget Session 2021 be held from January 29 to February 15.

Likewise, it has recommended that the second part of Budget session can be held from March 8 to April 8.

Meanwhile, the President Ram Nath Kovind is likely to address the customary joint sitting of Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha on January 29, while the Union Budget 2021-22 will be presented on February 1.

All COVID-19-related protocols will be followed during the Parliament session while both the Houses will meet each day for over 4 hours.

However, the final decision – on the start of Budget Session 2021 - will be taken by the Union Cabinet, which will meet on January 6 via video conference.

It is pertinent to mention that there was a recent controversy after the government announced cancellation of Winter Session in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Therefore, the Opposition had slammed the government of running away from a discussion amid farmers protest as well as the coronavirus pandemic.
