Centre-farmers meeting today amid protest: Amid a continuous deadlock over farm laws 2020 between farmers' organisations and the Centre, both sides are all set for the ninth round of meetings which will be held on Friday at 12:00 pm.

So far, eight meetings were held between the Centre and Farmers but all of them remained inconclusive. Farmers have been adamant on their demand that farm laws 2020 be repealed.

Meanwhile, Krantikari Kisan Union chief Darshan Pal, said that "We will go to tomorrow's meeting with the govt. We will decide what to do next based on how the govt will behave. One committee (to review the farm laws) member has already resigned which is a good thing."

Likewise, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Thursday said that Government was ready to hold talks with farmers' leaders, as scheduled on Jan 15, with an open mind.

BKU Spokesperson Rakesh Tikait said that "On Jan 26, we'll take out a procession from Red Fort to India Gate. We will hoist the flag where we'll meet at the Amar Jawan Jyoti. It will be a historic scene where on one side we will have 'Kisan' and on the other side, 'jawan'."

The Centre-farmers meeting today is going to be held at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi. It is going to be a crucial one as the farmers have already announced that they will discuss the further strategy for the Kisan Republic Day parade on January 16 if the ninth round of meetings will also remain inconclusive.

The farmers’ have been protesting at Delhi borders against the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
