Princess Maria Teresa of Spain becomes first royal to die from coronavirus

Princess Maria Teresa of Spain has become the first royal to die from coronavirus (COVID 19). According to Fox News, the 86-year-old Maria was a cousin of Spain's King Felipe VI. Her brother Prince Sixot Enrique de Borbon, the Duke of Aranjuez, took to Facebook to announce that she died after contracting coronavirus.

He wrote: "S.A.R. Don Sixto Enrique de Borbon communicates that this Thursday, March 26, 2020, his sister Maria Teresa de Bourbon-Parma and Bourbon Busset, the victim of coronavirus, has passed away in Paris." As per the report, her funeral took place in Madrid on Friday.

Princess Maria Teresa was born in Paris in 1933. She completed her education in France and became a professor at Paris's Sorbonne and at Madrid's Complutense University.

As per the foreign media, Princess Maria Teresa was prominently known as the "Red Princess" because of her straightforward opinions and activist work. Princess Maria is survived by several nieces and nephews, a report suggested.

Meanwhile, the death toll in Spain due to the pandemic has increased to over 3,400, surpassing China, the Associated Press reported on March 26. Likewise, the Parliament has agreed to extend the state of emergency by two more weeks.

Over 664,564 cases have been reported across the world out of which 142,368 patients have been recovered. Likewise, 30,890 people have died across the globe.
