New Delhi, April 21: Under the Quad Vaccine Partnership, India delivered about 200,000 doses of Made in India, Covovax vaccines to Thailand on Thursday.
This second consignment of Covid-19 vaccines was jointly handed over to the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Public Health of Thailand, Anutin Charnvirakul by Suchitra Durai, Indan Ambassador, Allan McKinnon, the Australian envoy, Nashida Kazuya, Japan's Ambassador and James Wayman, the Charge d'Affaires of US, as per the official statement.
The vaccine doses were delivered to fulfil Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to contribute 500,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine to countries in the Indo-Pacific region during the Quad Leaders' Summit in Washington last September, according to the MEA.

The Quad grouping of countries -India, US, Australia and Japan- have provided around four and a half million coronavirus vaccine doses to Thailand. These countries have also delivered aid in terms of funds and last-mile delivery support, ensuring that vaccines are translating into vaccinations. Leaders of the four-nation grouping established the Quad vaccine partnership at their inaugural summit on March 12 of last year.
According to the official statement, India has also given Thailand assistance in fighting the pandemic by delivering medicines and oxygen concentrators.
Thailand expressed its gratitude and appreciation to the Quad countries for the vaccines, and the latter assured Thailand that it would get all possible assistance in the fight against the pandemic.
