Delhi BMW accident: Police lodge FIR for rash driving that killed Finance Ministry official
Fresh revelations in the Delhi BMW crash case have raised serious questions after the police found that the hospital where Central Government official Navjot Singh was admitted was co-owned by the family of the accused, Gaganpreet.
PTC News Desk: Delhi police have registered an FIR under relevant sections in connection with the BMW accident near Dhaula Kuan metro station on Sunday afternoon that claimed live of Union Finance Ministry official, while leaving his wife critically injured.
According to the police, the FIR has been lodged under Sections 281 (rash or careless driving endangering human life), 125 B (careless act endangering human life or safety), 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 238 (concealment of evidence or providing false information to protect the offender) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Navjot Singh was serving as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs under the Ministry of Finance. He died yesterday after his bike was hit by a speeding BMW in Delhi's Dhaula Kuan area, while he was returning from Bangla Sahib Gurdwara. He was transported to a private hospital in GTB Nagar where doctors declared him brought dead. While his wife, undergoing treatment is reportedly critical.

The luxury car was driven by Gaganpreet, with her husband, Parikshit, seated alongside. Instead of being rushed to a nearby medical facility, the injured couple was taken to Nulife Hospital in GTB Nagar — almost 19 km from the accident site. Investigations now reveal that Gaganpreet’s father is one of the hospital’s co-owners.
Meanwhile, the victim's family questioned that why theinjured were taken to a hospital in GTB Nagar, which was around 17 km away. The couple's son, Navnoor Singh, alleged that his parents were deliberately taken to a hospital linked to the accused.
"I had just come from a friend's house when I got a message from my mother that she was going to Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, but she did not pick up my call. Later, I got a call from a family friend who told me about the accident and that my parents were admitted to New Life Hospital. The accident happened around 1 or 1.30 pm. A girl driving a BMW hit my parents' motorcycle," he said.
