Delhi bomb scare: DUs St.Stephens College, St. Thomas School receive bomb threat; students evacuated
According to the Delhi Police, the threat was received via e-mail that triggered the deployment of emergency units including including the Delhi Police Bomb Squad, Dog Squad, Fire Brigade, and Special Staff teams to both locations.
PTC News Desk: Panic gripped national capital after Delhi University's St. Stephen's College and St. Thomas School in Dwarka received bomb threats on Tuesday morning prompting immediate evacuation of the students.
According to the Delhi Police, the threat was received via e-mail that triggered the deployment of emergency units including including the Delhi Police Bomb Squad, Dog Squad, Fire Brigade, and Special Staff teams to both locations.
The searches are underway. No suspicious items have been discovered at either location.
Delhi police in a statement mentioned, “St. Thomas School in the Dwarka area of Delhi and St. Stephen's College of the University of Delhi received bomb threats on Tuesday. Delhi Police Bomb Squad, Dog Squad, Delhi Fire Brigade team, and Special Staff team are on the spot. St. Thomas School and St. Stephen's College have been evacuated.”
"So far, the police have not found anything suspicious at either place," it added.
This is second such incident reported in a week. Earlier on Monday similar threat was received at CRPF Public School in Delhi's Dwarka sector 16 and Navy School in Chanakyapuri. Those schools were also evacuated and searched, but no explosive devices were found.
Delhi Fire Services (DFS) confirmed receiving calls from both schools on Monday morning after administrators reported receiving bomb threats via email. “Our teams were dispatched immediately in coordination with the bomb squad,” said a DFS official.
In another similar incident, the Bombay Stock Exchange also received an e-mail threatening to blow up the building. The threat email reportedly threatened that “4 RDX IED bombs have been placed in the tower building of the Bombay Stock Exchange and would explode at 3 pm”, according to ANI.
The searches across the premises were carried however no suspicious thing was found.
