PTC News Desk: Travelling in Delhi Metro is all set to become slightly costlier as the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has confirmed that the ticket fares will be increased, starting Monday (Aug 25). This is the first time DMRC has hiked the ticket prices in eight years, having done so previously in 2017.

"The passenger fares of the Delhi Metro services have been revised with effect from today, that is, 25th August 2025 (Monday) onwards. The increase is minimal, ranging from ₹ 1 to ₹ 4 only depending on the distance of travel (upto ₹5 for the Airport Express Line)," the DMRC said in its statement.

DMRC officials termed the fare hike as “nominal,” stating it was essential to cover growing operational and maintenance expenses.

This marks the first fare increase since 2017, when DMRC introduced two rounds of revisions that sparked intense debate among commuters and policymakers. At that time, the minimum fare rose from ₹8 to ₹10, while the maximum fare slab doubled from ₹30 to ₹60, drawing criticism but helping the system manage rising costs for electricity, staff, and upkeep.
