PTC News Desk: A major fire broke out on Saturday at the multi-storey Brahmaputra Apartments on BD Marg in Delhi — a residential complex inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2020 that houses several Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs.

The blaze reportedly started on one of the upper floors, sparking panic among residents. Several fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the scene to douse the flames.

Located just about 200 meters from the Parliament, Brahmaputra Apartments serves as one of the official accommodations for Members of Parliament. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Trinamool Congress MP Saket Gokhale raised an alarm on social media platform X over unavailability of fire tenders at the spot, writing, “HUGE FIRE at Brahmaputra Apartments at BD Marg in Delhi. All residents are Rajya Sabha MPs. The building is 200 meters from Parliament. NO FIRE BRIGADE SINCE 30 mins. The fire is still burning & RISING. Fire engines are missing despite repeated calls. Have some shame Delhi Government."
