The schools in the national capital were closed last year in March due to a nationwide lockdown in an order to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
Several states started partial reopening of schools in October 2020. However, the Delhi government allowed physical classes only for Classes 9-12 in January 2021.
These classes were also suspended following the surge in coronavirus cases during the devastating second wave in Delhi.
Currently, students of only Classes 10, 11, and 12 can visit schools that too with the consent of parents for admission and board exam-related activities.
Meanwhile, several states are reopening schools amid the threat of a third wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
