Bengali actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee, aged 42 dies in tragic accident at Talsari. He was reportedly pulled out of the water and rushed to a nearby hospital in Digha, where doctors declared him dead on arrival

In a shocking incident, Bengali actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee, aged 42, passed away in an accident at Talsari on Sunday. 

Initial reports suggest that the actor may have drowned, although the exact reason of death is still unclear. He was reportedly pulled out of the water and rushed to a nearby hospital in Digha, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

According to the Talsari Marine Police, an unnatural death case has been registered. “He died while undergoing treatment at Digha Hospital. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death,” officials said. Sources indicate that Banerjee was taken to Digha Sub-Divisional Hospital, located about 10–12 km from Talsari Beach, where he was declared dead around 6:10 pm.

Beyond his work in films and the Tollywood industry, Rahul was known for his deep interest in literature and intellectual discussions. A Mumbai-based creative producer who had worked with him shared, “Rahul was much more than an actor. His understanding of literature was remarkable. He always wanted to direct a film, a dream that will now remain unfulfilled.”

Banerjee also hosted the popular podcast Shohoj Kotha, which had over 70,000 followers. Just two days before his death, noted personality Bratya Basu had appeared as a guest on the show. In addition, Rahul was an accomplished writer with more than ten books to his credit.

He rose to fame with the 2008 romantic hit Chirodini Tumi Je Amar, where he starred opposite Priyanka Sarkar. Over the years, he featured in several notable films including Chaka (2000), Hangover (2009), Meghe Dhaka Tara (2012), Zulfiqar (2016), and Rappa Roy & Full Stop Dot Com (2025).

More recently, he appeared in the 2025 film Academy of Fine Arts, the television serial Bhole Baba Par Karega, and the web series Thakumar Jhuli. He was also part of the popular Hoichoi series Puropuri Eken (2025).

Rahul Arunoday Banerjee’s untimely demise has left the Bengali entertainment industry and his fans in deep shock.
