Indian man gets 2 months’ jail in Australia for possessing child porn in his phones

An Indian origin man who was charged in the Australian city of Perth for possessing child pornography has been sentenced to undergo 2 months imprisonment on Thursday by an Australian court.

The court also ordered that convict, Manpreet Singh (32) will be deported to India after completing his prison time.

An Australian Border Force (ABF) officer discovered the content on his mobile phones during a baggage search at Perth Airport. The ABF officers seized his mobile phones and cancelled his visitor’s visa and arrested him. He pleaded guilty in Perth Magistrates Court earlier this week and was sentenced on Thursday.

The court imposed a fine of $500 and sentenced him to undergo seven months in prison. But he will only serve 2 months. For the remaining 5 months, he will be subjected to a $1000 good behaviour recognizance.  Also, he would be serving some time in immigration detention before being deported to India.
