Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee extends ‘rail roko’ agitation

The Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee has extended the ‘rail roko’ agitation to October 5. The Committee is sitting on railway tracks in Amritsar to protest against the Farm Bills.

The protest is being staged following the passing of the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020, and Essential Commodities Act, in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, during the monsoon session of the Parliament.

The farmers in Punjab along with several Punjabi singers and prominent leaders including those of the Shiromani Akali Dal have been protesting against the farm bills. The farmers’ protest has been the heated topic in Punjab has the state is not ready to accept the bills.
