Mumbai: Massive fire breaks out at two hotels, no casualties

A massive fire broke out in two different hotels in Mumbai on late Wednesday.  Fire incidents were reported from two city-based hotels, including a luxury hotel, Trident.

The first fire incident was reported from a high-end shopping centre on the ground floor of the Trident Hotel at 11:04 pm. According to the media reports, 5 fire brigades reached the spot after receiving a call. The blaze had spread to an area of 2,000 sq ft and was confined to one shop only. The exact reason behind the fire was not yet known. The firefighters were able to douse the fire by 1 am. The police has started an investigation to know the exact cause of the fire.

Another fire incident was reported from Afzal Hotel located near Mazgaon circle in Southern Mumbai. The fire brigade received a call around 11:37 pm, following which fire tenders rushed to the spot. The firemen were able to douse the fire by 1:15 am. The preliminary investigation revealed that some electric wiring, chimney and some kitchen items of the hotel were damaged by the fire. An inquiry has been launched to know the exact cause of the fire.  No casualties have been reported in the incidents.

These two fire incidents came just two days after a fire broke out at the government-run ESIC Kamgar Hospital at Marol on Monday. During this fire, nine people lost their lives and 175 others were injured.  The Maharashtra Chief Minister, Davendra Fadnavis, has ordered a probe in the hospital fire on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Union Labour Ministry announced the compensation to the victims.
