Delhi LG recommends NIA probe against Arvind Kejriwal over alleged funding from banned outfit 'Sikhs for Justice'

New Delhi, May 6: In a development that has sent shockwaves through the political landscape, serious allegations of funding ties between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and a banned terrorist organisation have surfaced. Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena has sought investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) into thee allegations against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and his AAP.

As per the complaint, AAP, led by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, allegedly received an astronomical sum of $16 million (USD) in funding from Khalistani groups between 2014 and 2022. It further alleges a clandestine meeting held in 2014 between Arvind Kejriwal and pro-Khalistani Sikhs at Gurdwara Richmond Hills, New York, during which the Delhi CM purportedly promised support for the release of Devender Pal Bhullar in exchange for financial backing from Khalistani factions.

The complaint also cites tweets by Dr Munish Kumar Raizada, a former AAP worker, who shared a picture of Arvind Kejriwal with Sikh leaders at Richmond Hill Gurdwara in 2014. Raizada's tweets corroborate claims of a closed-door meeting between Arvind Kejriwal and pro-Khalistani Sikh leaders, further deepening the suspicion of AAP's links with extremist groups.

In response to the complaint, the Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Delhi, has taken a proactive stance by recommending an NIA probe into the matter. Recognising the sensitivity and seriousness of the allegations, the LG has stressed the need for a comprehensive investigation, including forensic examination of electronic evidence.

Meanwhile, reacting to the development, Delhi minister and AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged that the Delhi LG was an agent of BJP. "This is another big conspiracy against CM Kejriwal by them at the behest of BJP. BJP is losing all seven seats in Delhi and hence is upset. The BJP had hatched this conspiracy even before the Punjab Assembly elections."
