A 99-year-old woman completed her 10th pilgrimage to Sri Hemkund Sahib this year as over two lakh devotees have already visited the revered Sikh shrine in Uttarakhand
PTC Web Desk: The annual pilgrimage to Sri Hemkund Sahib in Uttarakhand continues to draw devotees from across the country, with more than two lakh pilgrims having paid obeisance at the holy Sikh shrine so far this year. Among them, 98-year-old Harbant Kaur has become a source of inspiration after completing her 10th visit to the revered shrine, situated at an altitude of over 15,000 feet.
According to Gurudwara Sri Hemkund Sahib Management Trust CEO Sewa Singh said despite her advanced age, Harbant Kaur undertakes the challenging pilgrimage every year with a group of devotees from Tata Nagar.
He said the management trust makes special arrangements to ensure her comfort and safety during the journey.

Sewa Singh said Harbant Kaur's determination and good health continue to inspire thousands of pilgrims visiting Hemkund Sahib. He also shared that her husband was once a member of the Maharaja of Patiala's polo team.
Over two lakh pilgrims visit Hemkund Sahib
The trust said more than two lakh devotees have already visited Sri Hemkund Sahib since the pilgrimage began this season.
Officials added that rainfall has been relatively low this year, keeping the weather dry and the trekking route in good condition. As a result, there has been no decline in the number of pilgrims visiting the shrine.
The annual Hemkund Sahib Yatra began on May 20, while the shrine was opened to devotees on May 23. The pilgrimage is expected to continue until the first week of October.
