Bihar rout aftermath: Lalu Yadavs daughter Rohini Acharya quits politics, severe ties with family
Acharya's decision adds another layer to the family turmoil within the family and the party stemmed from Lalu Yadav's eldest son Tej Pratap's expulsion.
PTC News Desk: Lalu Yadav's daughter Rohini Acharya has announced her decision to quit politics and severe ties with her family, a day after party's massive rout in the Bihar Assembly Elections. She said that she took this step on the advice of RJD rebel Sanjay Yadav and her husband Rameez Alam.
"I’m quitting politics, and I’m disowning my family. This is what Sanjay Yadav and Rameez had asked me to do, and I’m taking all the blame," Acharya posted on X.
Rohini Acharya, a doctor by profession, is a former member of the Lalu Yadav-led RJD. She had contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Bihar's Saran constituency, but lost to the BJP's Rajeev Pratap Rudy by quite a margin.
Acharya's decision adds another layer to the family turmoil within the family and the party stemmed from Lalu Yadav's eldest son Tej Pratap's expulsion. It is believed that she was unhappy with Tej Pratap's expulsion and had been signalling her frustration through cryptic posts often emotional, dragging the rift in the party's first family out in the open.
Lalu Yadav's family feud has gained significant attention first after the expulsion of his eldest son Tej Pratap after he declared his affair with Anushka Yadav in May this year, and now Rohini disowning her first family.
