BJP ends suspense; Mohan Yadav named next CM of Madhya Pradesh

PTC News Desk: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) finally announced the name of the next Madhya Pradesh chief minister on Monday. Mohan Yadav has been named the next CM of Madhya Pradesh. He is currently Ujjain South MLA.

Meanwhile, Narendra Singh Tomar has been named as the new assembly speaker. The state will also have two Deputy Chief Ministers namely Jagdisgh Devda and Rajesh Shukla

Yadav served as higher education minister in the Shivraj Singh Chouhan cabinet, backed by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

Four-time MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Prahlad Patel, newly-elected Dimani MLA Narendra Tomar, Indore heavyweight Kailash Vijayvargiya, state unit chief VD Sharma, and Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia were the frontrunners for the post of Madhya Pradesh chief minister.

Following the November 17 elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) retained power in Madhya Pradesh, gathering 163 seats in the 230-member assembly, leaving the Congress a distant second with 66 seats.
