PTC News Desk: Minutes before she allegedly died by suicide, Twisha Sharma sent a disturbing message to her sister-in-law: “Ask him to collect the leftovers of his wife, but tomorrow. Let me die in peace right now.”
According to a CBI chargesheet filed before a Bhopal court, the message was sent at 9.36 pm on May 12 and became an important part of the investigation. The CBI has accused Twisha’s husband, Samarth Singh, and her mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, a retired district judge, of allegedly subjecting her to mental cruelty and abetting her suicide.
Five minutes later, at 9.41 pm, Twisha called her father while crying. She allegedly told him that her husband had become “very aggressive and violent” and asked her parents to come to her immediately. At around 10.05 pm, she called her mother and reportedly repeated the same concerns before the call got disconnected.
CCTV footage allegedly showed Samarth Singh and Giribala Singh going towards the terrace at around 10.23 pm. Twisha was later brought downstairs and taken to AIIMS Bhopal, where she was declared brought dead at around 10.55 pm.
The CBI’s 600-page chargesheet, filed on August 14, gives a detailed account of the events leading up to Twisha’s death. Investigators examined WhatsApp messages, phone calls, statements from family members, doctors and counsellors, CCTV footage and financial allegations. The agency claims that Twisha faced months of increasing mental harassment during her marriage, which had lasted less than five months.
The investigation also found that on the morning of her death, Twisha had booked a train ticket to leave Bhopal and return to her family.
According to the CBI, Twisha, a former Miss Pune who had worked as a model and actor before entering the corporate sector, met Samarth through an online dating app in February 2025. The two got married on December 9, 2025.
