Centre notifies new rules for unified command of tri-services amid India-Pak conflict

PTC News Desk: The central government has notified new rules for unified command of tri services- Army, Navy and Air Force to strengthen command and control and streamline functioning of Inter-Services Organisations (ISOs).
The rules were notified under Inter-Services Organisations (Command, Control & Discipline) Act 2023 which will enable greater jointness and Command efficiency in Armed Forces.
The Bill was approved by both Houses of Parliament during the 2023 Monsoon Session and received Presidential assent on August 15, 2023. According to the Gazette Notification dated May 8, 2024, the Act officially came into effect on May 10, 2024.
This newly enacted law grants Commanders-in-Chief and senior officers within Inter-Services Organisations (ISOs) the authority to direct and oversee the personnel under their command. It aims to uphold discipline and ensure efficient administration while preserving the distinct regulations and service conditions of each Armed Forces branch.
Additionally, new rules have been introduced under Section 11 of the Act to facilitate its implementation. These regulations are essential for the effective functioning of ISOs, offering structured guidance for maintaining order, managing operations, and enhancing inter-service coordination.
