Commercial LPG cylinders become costlier as prices hiked by Rs 42 in Delhi , domestic remains unchanged
The latest revision comes as the Centre steps up efforts to enhance the country's fuel security and ensure adequate reserves of petroleum products and cooking gas.
PTC News Desk: The price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has been increased by Rs 42 in Delhi, taking the the retail price to Rs 3,113.5 per cylinder with effect from June 1.
Commercial LPG cylinder prices have been increased once again, with the cost of a 19-kg commercial cylinder in Kolkata rising by Rs 53.50 to Rs 3,255.50. Meanwhile, the price of a 5-kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinder has been hiked by Rs 11, taking its retail price to Rs 821.50 in Delhi.
This marks the second increase in LPG prices since May 1, when oil marketing companies raised rates by Rs 993 per cylinder due to disruptions in global LPG supplies amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The latest revision comes as the Centre steps up efforts to enhance the country's fuel security and ensure adequate reserves of petroleum products and cooking gas.
Addressing an inter-ministerial briefing on Friday, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, said the government is focusing on expanding strategic reserves and has instructed oil marketing companies to maintain a minimum 30-day stock of LPG.
Sharma stated that India currently has sufficient reserves of petrol, diesel, LPG and natural gas, while domestic refineries are functioning at optimal capacity. She added that LPG production has reached a record level of nearly 90 DMT per day and that there have been no reports of supply disruptions at LPG distributorships across the country.
