Diljit Dosanjh breaks silence hours after Satluj taken down from OTT, says film suffered same fate as Jaswant Singh Khalra
During a live social media session on Monday, Diljit responded to a fan’s question about the film and said that he was no longer worried about what would happen to it.
PTC News Desk: Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh has reacted for the first time after his film Punjab '95, released as Satluj, was removed from ZEE5 in India just two days after its release.
During a live social media session on Monday, Diljit responded to a fan’s question about the film and said that he was no longer worried about what would happen to it.
"No worries now, everyone has downloaded it. Once a film is out, it can never be destroyed," he said, suggesting that the movie had already reached its audience despite being removed from the streaming platform.
He added, "I was worried on the first day, but now it doesn't matter whenever they choose to re-release it. People have already watched and downloaded the film; now it can never be wiped out."
Directed by Honey Trehan, Satluj is based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, who brought attention to alleged illegal killings and secret cremations during the militancy period in Punjab.
The film was originally titled Punjab '95 and remained stuck for more than three years due to certification issues with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). After a long delay, it was finally released on ZEE5 on July 3.
However, by July 5, viewers noticed that the film was no longer available for streaming in India. ZEE5 later confirmed that Satluj had been taken down and would remain unavailable until further notice. The platform said it was exploring all possible legal and official options to make the film available again as soon as possible.
ZEE5 has not revealed the exact reason for removing the film. Meanwhile, Diljit’s comments have gone viral on social media, with many people interpreting them as a suggestion that once content reaches the public in the digital age, it is difficult to completely remove or erase it.
