CM Nayab Saini security breach: Eight protestors arrested, 18 cops suspended after Haryana CM's convoy disrupted

PTC News Desk: In view of the major security lapse, Gurugram Police on Friday arrested eight people for allegedly disrupting VIP security arrangements during Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini’s visit, obstructing govt duty and attempting to stop the CM convoy.

Eight police personnel including the Civil Lines Station House Officer (SHO) and the security in-charge of the concerned zone, have been suspended with immediate effect.

Taking serious cognisance of the matter, Police Commissioner Sibash Kabiraj issued show-cause notices to two Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) for negligence.

“A case has been registered at Civil Lines police station following which police arrested eight people in connection with the incident,” police spokesman Sandeep Turan said, adding, “Police respect citizens’ democratic rights, including the right to peaceful protest. However, no individual or group can use a protest to disrupt law and order, obstruct govt or police duties, block public roads and traffic, or interfere with VIP security arrangements.”

The arrested have been identified as Neeraj Yadav, a resident of Manesar; Shiv, a resident of Ghataula; Nikhil, a resident of Bhiwani; Anuj, a resident of Kanhai; Harkesh, a resident of Firoz Gandhi Colony; Aman, a resident of Pataudi Chowk; Rajiv Yadav, a resident of Krishna Nagar; and Harendra, a resident of Tauru in Mewat district.

The incident unfolded on Friday during the Chief Minister's visit to Gurugram when some protestors, allegedly Congress workers, showed black flags and raised anti-govt slogans in an attempt to block his convoy in a major security disruption.

Takin strict action against the cops, the police commissioner ordered a departmentar inquiry against the intelligence in-charge in connection with the lapse.
