PTC News Desk: Police have arrested a married couple in connection with the murder of a Delhi University professor who was found dead inside her flat in Delhi earlier this week, sources said. The accused were apprehended in Burdwan, West Bengal, and were being brought to Delhi for further investigation.

The victim, identified as Devosmita Paul, was allegedly killed over a property dispute. Preliminary investigations suggest that the couple had been living as tenants in a house owned by Paul in Burdwan and were keen to purchase the property. However, she reportedly refused to sell it.

According to sources, the couple then allegedly planned the murder and travelled to Delhi under the pretext of paying rent. To avoid raising suspicion, they reportedly brought their child along during the visit.

Investigators said the accused visited Paul's flat and once again urged her to sell the Burdwan property. When she refused, they allegedly killed her.

After committing the crime, the couple is believed to have locked the flat from the outside and fled the scene. Police are continuing their investigation to establish the sequence of events and gather further evidence in the case.
