Law student dies, woman collapses during concert in in Mumbai’s Worli, cops probe organisers
PTC News Desk: A 28-year-old law student died after collapsing during a techno music concert at Mumbai's NSCI Dome on Saturday evening, prompting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
The deceased, identified as Vrushabh Gangurde, reportedly fell unconscious while attending the event. He was immediately taken to Breach Candy Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police suspect that excessive alcohol consumption may have played a role in the incident, though they have not ruled out the possibility of narcotics being involved. Authorities said the exact cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem examination.
The Mumbai Crime Branch has also initiated a parallel investigation into the case.
In a separate incident at the same concert, a 31-year-old woman reportedly suffered health complications after consuming alcohol along with energy drinks. She was admitted to Jaslok Hospital, where her condition was stabilised.
The woman, who remains under medical care, told police that she had not consumed any narcotic substances.
The incident comes just two months after two management students allegedly died from a suspected drug overdose during a techno music event held at the NESCO Exhibition Centre.
In that case, police from Vanrai Police arrested 10 individuals, including management students from a prominent South Mumbai college and alleged drug suppliers from Kalyan. Investigators had alleged that ecstasy tablets were being distributed at the event.
Police are awaiting the post-mortem report in Gangurde's case and continue to investigate all possible angles.
