Ex-Supreme Court judge Sudershan Reddy to be INDIA blocs Veep candidate
Before his elevation to the Supreme Court, Reddy served as Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court and as a Judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court. Reddy retired as a Supreme Court judge in 2011.
PTC News Desk: Shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the opposition to back the NDA's candidate CP Radhakrishnan for the post of Vice President, the opposition bloc INDIA announced Ex-Supreme Court judge Sudershan Reddy as its own nominee.
Before his elevation to the Supreme Court, Reddy served as Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court and as a Judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court. Reddy retired as a Supreme Court judge in 2011.
Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge said the upcoming Vice Presidential election was an ideological battle.
“All Opposition parties are on board. Democratic values are under attack,” Kharge stated.
Emphasising on Reddy's notably credentials, Kharge said, " He is one of the India's most distinguished and progressive jurists. He has had a long and eminent legal career including as judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, Chief Justice Gauhati High Court and former Supreme Court Judge."
"He had been a consistent and courageous champion of social, economical and political justice," he further added.
