PTC News Desk: The government has revealed the names of six armed forces personnel who lost their lives during Operation Sindoor. Five of them were from the Indian Army and one was from the Indian Air Force.

Their names have now been added to the Roll of Honour on the National War Memorial website and engraved on Wall 3D at the National War Memorial in New Delhi. They have been included in the 2025 section, which honours soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice while serving the nation. Their names were released along with those of other military personnel who died during various operations in 2025.

The six personnel have been identified as:

- Subedar Major Pawan Kumar, Headquarters 10 Infantry Brigade

- Rifleman Sunil Kumar, Vir Chakra, 4 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry

- Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar, 5 Field Regiment

- Aviation Technician Mood Muralinaik, 851 Light Regiment

- Havildar Sunil Kumar Singh, 237 Field Workshop Company

- Sergeant Surendra Kumar, Vayu Medal, 39 Wing

The Tyag Chakra (Circle of Sacrifice) at the National War Memorial is dedicated to soldiers who laid down their lives for the country. It consists of 16 circular granite walls, where the names, ranks and units of all personnel who have died in the line of duty since Independence are inscribed. The six personnel who died during Operation Sindoor will now be permanently honoured there.

India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, carrying out strikes on what it said were terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. The operation was launched in response to the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 people were killed.

Pakistan responded with air strikes, drone attacks and heavy shelling along the border, leading to four days of military conflict between the two countries.

The name "Operation Sindoor" carried symbolic meaning. Sindoor, the red vermilion traditionally worn by married Hindu women, was chosen to represent justice for the women who lost their husbands in the Pahalgam terror attack.

The fighting between India and Pakistan ended on May 10.
